The Landscape Research group develops efficient spatial planning of project sites to ensure the preservation of local landscape character and sustainable use of land resources. The group integrates cultural heritage by focusing on rural practices, and applying a holistic approach that ensures responsiveness to the natural, semi-natural, rural and urban context with a focus on ecotourism and recreation as an alternative for biodiversity activities. The human/cultural facet of IBSAR:
  • Focuses on rural practices and vernacular traditions

  • Integrates cultural heritage, both natural and managed

  • Considers alternative biodiversity related activities (ecotourism, recreation) that can empower local population
